INTRODUCTION

The African Center for Governance, Asset Recovery, and Sustainable Development (The Africa Center) is committed to maintaining a workplace that is free from modern slavery and human trafficking. We have a zero-tolerance approach to these practices, which involve the exploitation of individuals through force, coercion, or deception.

1. SCOPE

This policy applies to all employees, contractors, and third-party partners working with or on behalf of The Africa Center.

2. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • All employees are expected to report any concerns or suspicions regarding modern slavery or human trafficking to their supervisor.
  • Supervisors are responsible for ensuring that their teams understand and comply with this policy.
  • The company will provide training and resources to help employees identify and report potential cases.

3. PROHIBITED PRACTICES

  • Forced labor or services.
  • Human trafficking.
  • Child labor.
  • Bonded labor or debt bondage.
  • Slavery or servitude.
  • Any other forms of exploitation or abuse.

4. CONSEQUENCES OF NON-COMPLIANCE

  • Violations of this policy may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment or contract.
  • The company may also report suspected cases to authorities.

5. REPORTING CONCERNS

  • All concerns or suspicions should be reported to the Assistant Project Officer.

6. TRAINING AND AWARENESS

  • The company will provide regular training and awareness programs to ensure employees understand the risks and indicators of modern slavery and human trafficking.

By adopting this policy, The African Center demonstrates its commitment to upholding human rights and preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in all forms.
