The African Center will speak at the Panel on “Transparency and Accountability”. This is a special event for the CoSP 10 scheduled to be held on the 12th of December 2023. This session is being organized by the United Nations Office on Drug and Crime (UNODC)/World Bank’s Stolen Asset Recovery Initiative (StAR Initiative).
The StAR Asset Recovery Day which has become a key feature of CoSP offers a forum for practitioners and other interested stakeholders to discuss asset recovery, showcase novel approaches and resources, and explore challenges and expectations.
This Panel aims to raise awareness of the importance of the principle of transparency and accountability in the process of asset recovery and return. It also aims to discuss the progress made in the recovery of stolen assets in African countries and challenges encountered in the recovery and use of recovered assets in line with the UN Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC), the African Union Convention for the Combating and Prevention of Corruption (AUCCPC), the AU Common Position on Asset Recovery (CAPAR), as well as SDG 16.4.
This panel will be moderated by the UNODC-World Bank Stolen Asset Recovery (StAR) Initiative.
