The African Center for Governance, Asset Recovery, and Sustainable Development has made a significant contribution to the global fight against corruption, with its written submission selected and published on the UNCAC Implementation Review Group’s First resumed sixteenth session webpage.
This submission is presented by the African Center for Governance, Asset Recovery and Sustainable Development in the spirit of constructive engagement with the international community on the implementation of the Conference of State Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC). As an organization committed to promoting transparency, accountability, and sustainable progress, we believe that access to reliable beneficial ownership information is essential for tackling illicit financial flows and recovering stolen assets.
This document outlines practical challenges, and offers targeted recommendations aimed at strengthening beneficial ownership frameworks to support effective asset recovery and sustainable development. We also highlight the importance of keeping civil society engaged in shaping and monitoring these reforms.
We appreciate the opportunity to be part of this process, and we call upon all stakeholders; governments, multilateral institutions, and civil society to intensify collaborative efforts, uphold the principles of Resolution 10/6, and advance reforms that make beneficial ownership transparency a practical and enforceable reality.
