As the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) Conference of the States Parties (CoSP) gets underway in Doha, Qatar, non-state actors and experts are actively shaping expectations for what States Parties should deliver during the negotiations.
Across strategic engagements and informal consultations, civil society organizations have emphasized several priority areas. These include:
- Ensuring that the UNCAC Implementation Review Mechanism is transparent, participatory, and accessible.
- Protection of Civic Space for CSOs.
- Environmental Crime and Corruption
- Asset Recovery
- Political Financing
- Cross-cutting issues on victims of corruption, human rights, and access to Information.
Pictured here is a cross-section of participants at CoSP, including members of the delegation from the African Center for Governance, Asset Recovery and Sustainable Development, engaging with stakeholders as Africa’s priorities are articulated and amplified on the global anti-corruption stage.
