Agreement Between The Federal Republic Of Nigeria And The Government Of The United States Of Nigeria-(Mecosta2023)

On August 23^rd, 2022, the United States of America, FRN and UK signed the Agreement on the Repatriation of Twenty-Three Million Dollars ($23,439,724) of additional stolen assets by the late General Sani Abacha and his associates from Nigeria. The assets were seized by the US Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and was laundered via the United Kingdom. The Asset Sharing Agreement between the FRN and USA was finalized and agreed with the US Department of Justice in April 2022. It provides for specific use of the funds for the PIDF projects managed by the NSIA namely Abuja-Kano Road (AKR), Second Niger Bridge (2NB) and Lagos-Ibadan Expressway (LIE)
