FATF Policy Brief on Nigeria’s Greylisting Experience

The African Center is pleased to have contributed to the recently released Policy Brief developed under the ESRC-funded project, “FATF Greylisting: Implications and Learnings from a Global South Perspective – Nigeria as a Case Study.”

This timely document, drafted in collaboration with Nkechi Valerie Azinge-Egbiri, PhD,  Joy Malala, PhD, with the support of the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU), draws from a high-level stakeholder engagement convened in June 2024, bringing together experts from the judiciary, law enforcement, regulatory bodies, and academia to examine Nigeria’s evolving AML/CFT landscape. The brief outlines strategic insights to strengthen Nigeria’s compliance efforts, ranging from legal capacity and inter-agency coordination to sustainable institutional practices.

As an organisation committed to evidence-informed reforms and policy innovation, we are proud to be part of this initiative advancing anti-corruption and financial integrity.
