On the December 12, the Nigerian Bar Association Anti-Money Laundering Committee (NBA AMLC), in collaboration with the African Center and ANEEJ with support from the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) hosted a Hybrid Training Program for NBA Branch Executive Chairmen. The training equipped participants with the tools and knowledge needed to enhance compliance and ethical leadership within the legal sector.
The program provided a comprehensive overview of the Rules of Professional Conduct (RPC), presented findings from the Risk Assessment Report (RAR) on money laundering risks, and outlined actionable recommendations to mitigate these risks.
A key highlight of the event was the unveiling of the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Financing of Terrorism Legal Sector Risk Assessment Report by the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, AFAM OSIGWE SAN, alongside members of the NBA Anti-Money Laundering Committee. This landmark report underscored the NBA’s unwavering commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s legal framework and aligning with international best practices to combat financial crimes. Additionally, the African Center, developed a comprehensive Action Plan. This plan aims to guide the implementation of robust measures to combat money laundering, terrorism financing, and the proliferation of illicit financial activities within the legal sector.
