The African Center congratulates Professor Muhammed Tawfiq Ladan, former Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS) and a distinguished member of our Board of Directors, on his recognition as one of the recipients of the 2025 NIALS Eminent Jurists/Legal Icons Fellowship Award.

‎This prestigious honour, conferred by the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies under the Chairmanship of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, celebrates their exceptional contributions to Nigerian law, jurisprudence, legal education, and justice sector reforms. Their decades of service have shaped the nation’s legal landscape and inspired generations of practitioners, scholars, and reform-driven institutions.

We equally extend our heartfelt congratulations to the other esteemed honourees:

  • ‎Chief Kanu Godwin Agabi, CON, SAN;
  • ‎Mohammed Bello Adoke, CFR, SAN; and
